The London Eye is 443 ft high. At the time it opened, it was the tallest wheel in the world. There is now one in China, the Star of Nanchang, and one in Singapore, the Singapore Flyer, that are larger . But the London Eye is the largest wheel in Europe. The engineering is a bit different on the Eye compared to the other two with the supporting structure offset to the side.
Here are a bunch of the people from our group. This is only part of the group, there were 24 people in our group and we combined with another group from Phoenix for many of our activities.
The ride is awesome. You hardly feel like you are moving and even when they occasionally do stop it briefly to let on handicapped people or for some other reason, it's so smooth you don'tfeel it. It takes a half an hour to go around.

Does the whole car rotate around as the wheel turns?
The cars do stay level so they have to rotate. No swinging or swaying. The movement, if any isn't noticeable. All of the movement around the approx. 30 minute ride is very smooth.
