London has this GREAT public transport system. Using a combination of buses and the underground, you can get most anywhere fairly quickly.
Taxis do cost more, but they do have their uses. We used this one to get from the restaurant to the performance we were going to. Four people sharing the cost, it wasn't too bad. This nightwe saw "Wicked". Both of the plays were better than I thought they would be. Vickie and I liked "Lord of the Rings" the best, but most of the kids seemed to like the humor in
"Wicked" more.
Heres the tubes and some of the kids we were traveling with. Notice the GREEN hair in the background. This was St. Patrick's Day, pretty big in the UK, caused us some major traffic problems one day.
And here you have some crazy people. There's about 20 3-5 year olds in this group, each adult has 3 or 4 of them. You couldn't PAY me enough to try it. The little rug rats are just too unpredictable, and on the older tubes like this one, there's no protective barrier between the moving train and the platform. And when the place is busy, it gets crazy.
And this is Kings Cross train station, platforms 1-8 are in the main terminal and then you come around here for 9,10 and 11.
Naturally, our favorite platform. When we showed the pictures to the rest of our group, a lot of them had to adjust their schedules to come here.

Yes, and they did it outside of an area where you have to pay to get in. I can just imagine all of the people looking for platform 9 and 3/4. after the books came out.
